Rona R. Rawls
From a child Rona believed her sole purpose on earth
was singing and performing. She comes from a musical family; her father a
professional musician, and mother a prolific writer. They both fostered and
nurtured her talents and Rona grew up being exposed to many forms of music. By
age 9 she taught herself to piano and wrote her first musical composition. Rona
was raised in Washington DC
and attended the prestigious Duke
of the Performing Arts.
Today, her passion for music is intense and her
creative mind is full and overflowing with more musical endeavors. Aside from
being a dynamic songstress, Rona is also a producer, writer and vocal arranger.
Her sultry soprano tone soothes your soul and takes you on a melodic ride. Her
vocal arrangements are harmonic and splendid, and are a treat for any listener.
Her writing is simplistic in nature but gives profound views on topics of love,
politics, nostalgia, and religion. Her music is a collective sound of Jazz,
Soul, R&B, Folk and Hip-Hop, and promises to stimulate all your senses.
In 2005, she launched the production company
3RProductions and has since become a writer/publisher affiliate with SESAC. In
November 2010, Rona released her first album entitled Colors of Love, a project
that creates a musical canvas for the highs and lows of relationships, and is
creating quite a buzz in Japan,
United Kingdom abroad as
well as in the US.
Currently, Rona is recording her next project, and
continues to perform, write, colab and perfect her craft. Rona has worked
locally and abroad with a host of bands, singers, producers and musicians
including but not limited to Ann Nesby, Anthony Hamilton, Kelly Price, Raheem
DeVaughn, Karen Clarke-Sheard, Deborah Bond, & Tanya Blount. Her biggest
influences include but are not limited to Donny Hathaway, Stevie Wonder, Phoebe
Snow, Chaka Khan and Billy Joel.
